Nick,I could not agree with your #barf more. However, we are to blame for this culture of senutdt grades. They have been trained from an early age to chase the "A" and figure out what they need to do for their desired grade. Better yet, they ask "will this be on the test?" Students have been trained to only retain what they need for the test rather than learn for the sake of learning. As a previous comment stated, standards based grading is a step in the right direction. Your post is a sad reality that at the end of the day, for some kids it is all about the grade...it is a cultural thing that we need to change.
